I'm the Windows administrator! If you are, then take ownership of it with this command: TAKEOWN /F directory /R /A This will take ownership and give permissions to the administrator. what IS happening there that is preventing us from access to our files? I have wrestled with this challenge for a few days. I regulary clean my browsing history on google chrome, does that mean my "archived history" on c disk is also deleted? My take on it is that due to security regs and best practices, MS finally decided that "the" Administrator as the sole and default user really was ill advised like people dkart96 Thank you so much!

I want to be the God of my computer. Background: I'm trying to back up certain application prefs files like browser bookmarks that at least in XP were tucked into folders like Application Data. If I click on properties of the folder it takes quite some time until the properties window opens (around 10 seconds). I have tried just about every combination to gain access to the file to no avail.
