I read some fix, which maybe a suspect is the KB851748 updates, but when I go to this update it says " this update cannot be removed" and no button to I was about to give up and then I read this it worked like a charm!!! My desktop was working fine last thursday, has been powered off since then, and was unable to connect upon my return this evening. See if that helps.It's a shot in the dark, and not a typical fix for your issue, but it could prevent you from getting through to the internet.

I did not want Windows Vista. I can able to ping but cannt able to access websites Solution > Firefox Go to tools > options> advanced > network. This is Win 7 and if you click on the little icon in the lower right for network properties it says connection excellent, with wire or wireless, I tried both. Unfortunately, these software firewalls can malfunction and start blocking valid Internet traffic. I guess you can check device manager and see if the NIC even shows up, or if it's disabled, or has a yellow exclamation point next to it. The easiest way to restart your router is to find the power button on the back of the router. check obtained both try it... Not until I tried your last suggestions did my IE actually re-connect to the internet. So type it in MANUALLY...
