If your external hard drive is more than 2TB it is probably formatted in GPT instead of standard MBR, which cannot be read by 32bit Operating Systems such as WIndows XP. Once out I connect a Seagate Slim Drive which immediately shows up. Can you tell with the above information if the data is there and is not lost.
