My guess is that my drive had suffered some sort of surge that had blown out the drive's internal USB adapter... James_northSep 29, 2013, 11:25 AM Specs: Gigabyte motherboard Z68XP-UD3 socket 1155 Hdd Seagate 1TB Barracuda Internal Hard Drive - OEMI am able to detect the hdd is the bios setttings and USB trick works for me too.Looks like USB3 ports are somehow not supported.I switched to a USB2 port and all worked fine.i guess it's the same case for you. The drives are not all 'dead', all at once. If your drive is partitioned and you still can’t see it, ensure you’ve set a drive letter so you can access it in Windows.
