Would like to leave explorer 9 as the default, but this is driving me nuts. I'm going to recommend this solution to others who may have the same problem. The problem has existed since IEx6 and it has never been fixed. I have had the windows explorer opening every folder in a new window, ran the command, got a confermation that the dll was registered, but the problem with Windows explorer still links on search results pages are click throughs.... You just have to read and follow it. Thank you!!!!

I tried several different things including the reg server fix, the reg 8 file mentioned, and turning IE off and back on. works in other browsers but not IE.... Cancel/Reload loads the page fine so nothing wrong with the URL. just before I purchased a new copy of windows 7 with no bloatware I was ready to reinstall and I just tried one more thing, I disabled tabbed browsing.
