Since you are using the Blackberry as router it needs the capability to forward the port you need for your "remote software" to your computer. If you want to ping your wan ip you have to enable ping response on the wan interface of the router.It is sounding like you need a friend to come help If so then it's likely a port problem, if not it's likely a WS2008 VPN problem.
