If I have a disk drive of some sort that needs a device driver, then wouldn't it already be on the machine? After much trial and error (mostly error) I determined I had a bad (1 of 4) memory module. And then recreate the C: Partition (NTFS) by pressing 'C'. But really, if you are getting BSODs and failing to have files install on XP installation and those are because of bad RAM, then memtest is going to throw errors pretty
