XP won't let you share with other workgroups at least not by default. You didn't say but I'm assuming you are trying to do this networking through a router? At foist that was not enaf and i still got the error, but i runned network setup wizard and who-al-a, i can connect to xp machine and its shares. Make sure that you are setting the correct network type for this. Why has network discovery always taken so long? Helpfull and a delight to follow through! you must add a "guest" account and give them all access.it goes throughsome file stuff which takes a while but it works.
