I'm not sure what 'credentials stage' you are expecting? Please let me know if and/or how you resolved your problem. I fixed it by uninstalling the "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks" on the network adaptor, reinstalling it and then restarting the computer. I hope this is helpful to someone out there.
