I get the same error code as you. Now hp does not have the drivers for my printer. when this fails, i assume because microsoft update service does not have the hp4100 driver available, instead of going to the screen where you can select the printer manufacturer and then It will probably ask for a printer driver, and you can just choose whatever XP driver you might have been using before.
Download new drivers, no help. The file and printer sharing has always been connected (as my brother from his xp computer can print to my printer) and the firewall lets it through. I wanted to share the XP desktop printer via my wireless router (Edimax) through my Vista laptop. The nightmare begun (cannot connect... 0x0000000d and much more) !!! It will probably ask for a printer driver, and you can just choose whatever XP driver (I even used a win 98 driver on win 7 & it worked) you might Also edited reg to allow an older version of encryption.
